Default Selling e-book a good way of making money?

I was thinking of making a ebook and selling it for $1 each that can be downloaded off the site. I will have a website just for the ebook, where people can find out about the ebook and what it contains, and the price and they can purchase it from there.

Do you think it is good way of making money if I promoted the ebook like hell! My goal is to make $100 on the first month!

Please share your thoughts and advices are appreciated.

NO NO NO

You dont sell things that cheap
If its a good e-book price it accordingly.

People don't like cheap stuff cause they think hey you get what you pay for
This is almost free can't bee that good, right?

and to make $100 you need to make 100 sales

Price it at $10 (if its good)
then spread it on the net like butter on warm bread (lol)

Sell 100 copies at $10 make $1000.00

Thats a way better number.

I have a first hand experience at pricing things too cheap.
I was doing ecovers on DP for like $3
I got no sales at all.
Until a marketing lady came to me asking for a cover. She was shocked when i showed he what i made.
She said her self that if you price too low you won't get buyers

Im getting a crap in my hand so take my word for it. RAISE THE PRICE

I agree with you ardit, making a price too low might make people think it's junk!

If your ebook is written well and provides as good resource, then why sell for $1? Boost it up to $9.99 or something to make people think it is worth spending money on this ebook.

"You get what pay for"

Ardit is right. If you set a price of $10, than your goal can be completed in 10 sales only. And I also used to think what you are thinking, few of my friends also told me what ardit said to you.

I see a lot of websites out there that are selling rights to several ebooks for $20-$99 for the whole set. Usually a set of 3 ebooks. They say that these are best selling ebooks - mostly "how to" ebooks like "how to make money in nnn days" or "how to lose nnn pounds in nnn days", etc.

I think these people just repackaged the ebooks and made it their own and selling the rights to it. May I know how you can protect your ebook from these people?

It's pretty much impossibe to protect your ebooks. But the good ones are not resold left and right
But you can bribe people.

Lets some where in the begining of the book, say that "if you diden't buy this book from me, then report the person that sold it to you for a reward"

Unless you can think of something like they do music protection

There has to be a way of protecting ebooks. How do you think the SEO BOOK guy protects his ebook? I know he does protect is some how. He wouldn't let his book filled with all of his knowledge go to waste by some fool who decides to steal.

Adobe Acrobat has 2 levels of security. The first level protects the options you allow your readers. You can let them print the ebook, copy and paste the text and graphics, annotate, and fill out forms.

You can also prevent the reader from doing these things. These are standard options anytime you do a "Save as..." in Acrobat (the full version, not Reader!) By assigning a security password, no one can change these options - even if they have the full version of Acrobat.
