I am curious as to knowing how often google update their page rank? I've been moving up on Alexa rather quickly but the PR seems to be stuck for quite a while now.

Anyone know?

Google updates PageRank four times a year.

However, last update was on end of April and this one at July - simple calculation - 3 months! Anyway, 3-4-5 months is not a factor unless they change their algorithm for PR to make it more practical related to SERP. Currently high PR doesn't mean high SERP position.

I'm not sure, but you might have heard that Microsoft is researching on same type of algorithm - their rating will be called as BrowseRank - Source : Microsoft tries to one-up Google PageRank | News - Digital Media - CNET News.com

hahahaha - Are you out of your mind? Can you imagine how much data they will need to update daily for just a silly green bar!

Updating PageRank is not same as updating their indexing. Google update their indexes very frequently to maintain their highest quality result - but don't think it's worth updating PageRank even once in a month.

Actually, Google does update PR daily. They're continuosly crawling web pages and analizing backlinks. The only thing they update every 3-4 months is their PR Toolbar, which is already outdated by now.

So, keep working on building backlinks. They don't sleep, you should not either!
