| Wunir ![]() | As you know for Search Engine and visitor Content is King. It is basic terms in Search Engine Optimization(SEO). For long term ranking in Search Engine the key is content. When it comes to presenting that content, there are two popular strategies; blogs and article based websites. Depending on what you intend to write about, the decision as to which method to use may be clear and obvious. However, many topics fall into a large grey area where you could employ either strategy. This is what we’re going to try and clear up today. A blog is a type of website that is usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent ‘post’ (or entry) at the top of the main page to the older entries towards the bottom. It’s a Short for Web log, a blog is a Web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author. Articles are usually considered to be more informative and accurate where details are concerned. From a search engine perspective, both are a great source of information. But which one to rank better? Now this is the first question come into mind, what are the differences between the two. First, let’s look at the value each one brings: Blogs: Timely, personal, have “inside point of view” usually updated on a frequent basis Articles: Informative, Authorative, detailed, marketing driven. Blogs were great for informal writing when they began because none of the information needed to be organized logically. All of the content organization was handled based on the date of creation. Once people saw examples of informal, personal blogs, they caught on like wildfire and have resulted in what we recognize as blogs today. But if you look at some of the more “professional” blogs, you’ll find content that’s written in such a manner that it could easily be presented as an article and be part of an article based website. Blogs are usually (but not always) written by one person and are updated pretty regularly. Blogs are often (but not always) written on a particular topic - there are blogs on virtually any topic you can think of. From photography, to spirituality, to recipes, to personal diaries to hobbies - blogging has as many applications and varieties as you can imagine. Whole blog communities have sprung up around some of these topics putting people into contact with each other in relationships where they can learn, share ideas, make friends with and even do business with people with similar interests from around the world. Similarly, on the other side of the coin, there are websites that appear to be article based, but could easily be converted to a blog format. Any article based website that has ongoing content development and/or articles released on a regular schedule can take on the blog format and still make a lot of sense. Blogs usually have a few features that are useful to know about if you want to get the most out of them as a reader. Lets examine a couple briefly. Blog Pros And Cons Advantage A blog has advantages when it comes to writing. Blog readers expect a more relaxed form of language, allowing authors to write in a much more casual tone than they would if they were writing an article. For most authors, this is much easier. It’s also acceptable to discuss topics or ideas that are not fully developed yet. The temporal nature of blogging makes it easier to write a brief introduction with a promise to deliver more later. Disadvantage The major disadvantage of a blog is that blog audiences tend to expect more frequent updates than article based audiences. If your website is useful to your audience and maintains a regular schedule of posts, you can train your audience to only expect a new post whenever your schedule dictates. For this to work properly, your content will have to be compelling and you will have to stick to your schedule closely. Article Pros And Cons The article based website has largely opposing pros and cons when compared to a blog. For example, most audiences expect a more polished, professional writing style. This doesn’t mean you can’t write in a casual manner if you’re writing an article. What I’m suggesting is that all things being equal, same author, same topic, etc… a person reading both blog and article will generally hold the article to a higher standard of writing. Article readers also expect a complete work. Part of a blog reader’s experience is that of putting together a puzzle with only short blog posts as individual pieces. But someone reading an article has an expectation of reading a completed work. The article must be able to stand on its own in order to satisfy readers. Both these reader expectations definitely increase your overhead when it comes to writing, but there is one final expectation that balances things out. Due to the expectation of a higher standard of writing and complete, finished work, article audiences are more forgiving when it comes to their expectations of publication frequency. Whereas blog audiences expect a new post every day or two, article audiences are very comfortable waiting longer, up to a week, between articles. This extra time will allow you to spend more effort improving the quality of your writing and tidy up loose ends to ensure complete articles. For more articles Go seozealgroup and share your views. |
