Hello WTers,

I am looking at starting a blog real soon, wordpress that is. It's going to be blog covering topics like webmaster/monetization/forum management and so on. So I would like to know if you guys recommend me any mods that I should install, any nice theme, and anything else you want to let me know.

Hi Garala,

There are a few nice WP mods around that you might want to use:

All-In-One-SEO-Pack: This mod will handle your blog's SEO. It's quite simple to use and install. It's a must have!
Google XML Sitemap: this one will update your sitemaps automatically each time you post a new entry. You should use this one!
Akismet: I've tried many anti-spam mods and I believe this is the best one. It's a must have too!
Wordpress.com Stats: helps you keep a real-time track of your blog's activity. You'll love this one!
WP-Polls: a nice Polls mod. Totally customizable! A bit difficult to use but nothing that you can't handle. You'll get used to it.

I have about 12 mods on my WP now. I'm always checking Wordpress.org to see which mods are on the "Favorites Plugins" list ;)

Try Smart Youtube ;) It's very simple to use!

Keep it simple, clean, and uncluttered! I can't tell you how many blogs and sites I exit from when I see the opposite. Good luck with your blog, too.

My advice: Be unique...be a Writer, not a copywriter. You do so, you succeed. Even i have managed to have revenue and traffic from my blog, you can do so for sure.

Do link exchanges.
For themes it depends on how you wanna work for example adsense or sell ads.
But keep it simple and clean

Oh! I thought it required a mod to do that. I use a mod to implement live youtube videos here on vbulletin forum software. I thought there was a mod that you had to install on wordpress, but guess not.
