| Get Linux, you'll be happy | hi all, Lets put you in my shoes. I'm getting a new computer soon and is struggling to decide whether to buy a desktop or a laptop. The budget is approximately 800 USD. I like laptops but everyone told me to get a desktop first then buy a laptop when i go for higher education two years from now. But i can use my laptop when i'm in places like starbucks (here in Malaysia there are plenty of starbucks-like that offers not-so-expensive coffee and Wi-fi access). Plus, i can attend to LAN parties sometimes. So, how?

I mean its just 400 to 1200 instead of you spending 800 now on something that you want to change later and start saving another 1200 |

| Contributing Member | Personally, I prefer desktops over laptops. Desktops are easier to upgrade and "pimp". Don't know about you guys, but here in my country all computer parts for laptops are way more expensive than desktop parts. ardit said it right: with $800 you can buy a really good desktop.

And i could get an intel quad core for 800 USD over here but i don't need that much. And IF i have 1000 USD i'll get a Macbook. Too bad, i don't have and extra 200. ![]()
