This issue has been talked about much. What powers should the staff be given? So that the forum remains under control and not overly-moderated. Also, to avoid staff burn-outs, what should be the ratio of moderators per 1000 members?

For me, moderators should be given general access plus the ability to close, edit, move threads and not delete them. They should have an access to private discussion forum. And for the ratio, 3:1000 is a good one.

i agree with you on the permissions but I would say more like 4:1000 or even 5:1000 ratio

You can't give any sort of ratio.

Ratio would depend on how active your forum is and how much spam you get.

yeah i guess your right, Now that i think about it it depends on what type of site it is too
Warez forums need tons of mods

yeah look at W-bb they got like like 300 mods , at least that much!
