Default Is custom skin needed when starting out?
Do you really think custom skin is a necessity when starting up a new forum? Or do you think the looks are that important when starting a forum or getting the content?

i'd prefer getting the looks first before getting the content going. attraction is what i always emphasize.

A theme should attract users to post at the forum. There is no more attractive theme for web-talks than this! :D Thanks to Garala

If you have thebudget, i think you should invest on custom themes(and even custom mods)
If you don't...just take a good one, edit it a bit and publish it. When you havethe money go for something better;)

The current design is very good in my opinion! As Josh stated, appeareance is always important. You won't be getting any visitors if your looks aren't good, no matter how good your content is.

I'd prefer the looks first too. because when I go to a forum, and has a default vBulletin skin, it doens't look that attractive.

Completely agree. as long as its somewhat atractive its fine. You can get a custom theme when you have the money.

But you need content to make money
