Credits: 1 ![]() | What makes a template 'Good'? Do you guys think the ad placement, colors used, easy navigation plays a role? If so, what is the most important factor that matters in making a template stand out and looking sharp. I'm currently looking around and tweaking some of my own templates right now.

| Regular Member | I think a good template brings everything together. It's not distracting, everything is easy to read, and it loads fast. I'm not really worried about compatibility when surfing (definitely when creating, though) because I pretty much just use Firefox. I honestly hate designs that try to do too much. With images out the wazoo and flash everywhere. |

Flash banners too, loads slow and irritating. If you're not at all pro in flash, just don't try it. good template = loads fast + nice but not heavy graphics + readable font color and size.

| New Member ![]() | I would think its a combination of them all. I have hired quite a few people to create designs for me before. Many have failed my sites, but many have made them successful. Easy navigation is of vital importance though. As for Flash, as I have slow internet, if I goto a website that uses ANY flash at all, I will leave the site unless I DESPERATELY need to be on it. It all depends on who your target market is for your site, I suppose. If you are targeting it to be towards students, the chances are they will not have the fastest internet or best computers, so a "full-on" flash site may not work out for you; however, if you're aiming towards big businesses, they would usually have High Speed Broadband and powerful computers, so it would be absolutely fine to use flash. Just my opinion though. |
